The truth is we are already consistent!
We are consistent in snoozing the alarm in the morning, we are consistent in checking Whatsapp and Facebook first thing in the morning, we are consistent in reading the newspaper in the same place in the same order every day, we are consistent in watching TV at night, we are consistent in playing games or checking messages or browsing on our phone before going to bed at night.
WE ARE CONSISTENT IN OUR BAD HABITS!
The key to being a market leader is CONSISTENCY IN GOOD HABITS.

In this blog, I am not going to share with you how to break your bad habits, but rather I am going to share with you how you can start with one good habit and be consistent with it.
Step 1: Pick Up A Habit
Who are the market leaders in your industry? Who are the people that you look up to?
What is it that they are doing consistently, even on weekends, festivals, holidays, and vacation?
Make a list of the market leaders in your industry and the things that they are doing consistently. Then, pick up one good habit that you want to start with.
There is a possibility that you are already doing something good, but not consistently.
Pick up a good habit.
Step 2: Small Steps Please
Have you ever wondered why New Year Resolutions never last?
It’s because we start BIG - I am going to spend 2 hours with my children every day, I am going to go to gym for 1 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days this year!
The brain feels overwhelmed and shuts down.
How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.
Start small. Our brain can handle small chunks, one bite at a time.

Step 3: Decide The Frequency
How frequently do you want to practice this good habit consistently?
Do you want to do it daily, 5 days a week, weekly, twice a month or monthly?
Most of the times, we end up not doing things that are important to us because we want to do it daily.
A commitment of “I want to go for a walk 30 minutes 3 times a week” has a much better success rate than “I want to go for a walk 60 minutes 7 days a week.”
Have you decided the frequency?
Now, it’s time to commit and get started.
Step 4: Begin Now, Improvise Later
Recently, I was talking to an ambitious trainer and was sharing with him about the good habit of creating and delivering valuable content to become a market leader in the training industry. He committed to the practice of creating content, but I noticed that he was not posting it anywhere.
When I asked him about it, he said, “I am creating content, but I am yet to have my website up, so I cannot deliver the content yet.”
Then, we brainstormed about different ways where he can get started right away, and improvise upon later. The next day I saw his blog on LinkedIn, shared on Facebook.
Start today, not tomorrow. Improvise later.
Step 5: Acknowledge & Appreciate
Do you know what is the biggest craving of a human being?
It is not money, gifts or jewels. It is appreciation. We love appreciation.
That is the reason when someone appreciates us, we feel good, and most importantly, we want to do things even better the next time.
Why not use the same psychology on ourselves?
